Already two weeks ago I booked the second part of my WorldTrip as you can see in the post below. Today I made the next step: I booked my starting flight! So my trip is getting settled and REAL. No way changing my mind again. No backing off.
And of course it is not the expected Hamburg-Bangkok, Bangkok-Hamburg flight. As there were possibilities and almost no differences in price I booked Hamburg-Bangkok and for return Singapore-Hamburg. And as a special treat there will be a 4 day stop-over in Istanbul on the way to Bangkok to check out the famous and glorified metropol on the Bosporus before heading on to Indochina.
As I will stay in Southeast Asia for three and a half months I will celebrate Christmas and New Years Eve somewhere over there. Now the big planning starts! Where to stay in Bangkok? Do I already need reservations ahead for New Years Eve? Christmas on the beach or in a city? Do I want to attend overcrowded full-moon parties on small islands? How many days is good for Singapore?
There is also some battles going on in my head: Culture and Mountains vs. Party and Beach. Angkor Wat and Khmer history vs. Koh Tao and Scuba Diving. Halong Bay vs. Bali.
Time will come and I will decide.

Vikings across Africa
I guess there IS some nordic genes in me. As there was a deeper reason living in Sweden and Denmark in the past years. Yesterday I made my official booking for Vikings across Africa and secured a seat on the 14-person truck traveling from Iceland to South Africa. Start will be in January and this trip is the second part of my WorldTrip.
Ahead this journey is my trip to Southeast Asia. As my booking for the flights was depending on the Vikings across Africa participation I can now book my flights for the banana pancake trail. Between these two trips I will be back to Germany for a short stopover I think as I have to pack different things: camping in winter time in Spain and South Africa needs some more gear than shorts and flipflops for Thailand.
And I think I will use the possibility to visit some parts of Portugal and Spain before heading to Malaga, the meeting point for all the Vikings. Maybe I can check out Lisbon for more than 2 hours like last time when I missed my connecting flight to Accra and was sent back to Germany early next morning...
