FUNdraising

Sun. Warming sun.

I just had two great days - with sun.

Yesterday I´ve been to Hamburg for a meeting with a foundation to get a fund for my volunteering service in Ghana. I had a nice conversation with the chairman and got to know him a little, the same as he got to know me. In the end he told me that he and his family (the members of the foundation) will sponsor the major part of the money I need. Yay! FUNdraising works.
Afterwards I had a date with B. for some coffee at the Alster. We took our coffees, went to the water, looked for a bench and had a long talk. Then we were walking a little downtown and just had a great time before we split again and took our trains home.

Today the weather was even better. Only in t-shirt outside and I already missed my short trousers which I don´t have here in Oldenburg, yet. So I have to bring them after Eastern. I met my project group for our uni-project and in the evening I was jogging again - 3rd time in 2 weeks. I hope I will manage this effort for longer time. The same with the blog. But now it works quite well I think. Does it?

Bird in the kitchen

This morning I found a small guest in our kitchen. After taking the pictures I freed it and now it is in the nature again.

Welcomming summer

I just had the first BBQ of the year. S. and I made some fire and put sausages on it. We put some selfmade potato wedges into the oven and made a dip with tomato and garlic, had some baguettes and, of course: cold beers!
It was a great feeling to sit outside again with no jacket on, drinking beer and waiting for the sausages to become ready. It really felt like summer. We just skip the spring after the long winter and start directly with my favourite part of the year.
Lots of BBQs will follow, I´m sure.

All good

The fear of not being not able to start my volontary service is gone. I called my sending organisation and they told me that I won´t be affected because I am in another part of this and my fund will be save and there won´t be a problem to start my work in Ghana. Yay!

So I am still in need of more vaccinations. But I´ve still got time to do them.

And I have to finish my studies. For this weekend I am motivated to finish the transscription of an interview and it´s the first part of the exam I have to finish until March 31st. The other part is an exposé and hopefully done in one day ;-) Afterwards I have to read a lot again for my two oral exams in the beginning of April. But this will be fine I guess.

And I have to get information for my papers as passport and visa. Additionally for the biometrical pictures I need to take on which everybody looks like an ugly prisoner without any fun in life. Thanks to the international safety control for this! I want some nude scan pictures of myself as well!

And I need some sponsors. So if you are or got someone who is interested in supporting and sponsoring me for my volontary work in a school for deaf and blind kids in Cape Coast, Ghana, please contact me. Even small amounts are a great benefit.

So it´s still a lot to do until summer but I am positive for all of this. It´s even more with my thesis and the preparations for the summer camp ;-) But first I have to go to a meeting of my project in a few minutes for evaluating the last questionaries and experiences and after I will be out for cooking with I. and watching Lena at USFO. It´s the final contest for our participant for Oslo for the European Song Contest. Go, Lena, go!

A lot to do but no stress. Relax, focus, work - enjoy life! It´s like a circle ;-)

Freezer party

S. and I were just partying the emptiness of our small freezer in the fridge with a pizza and some frozen baguettes from the freezer itself. Actually the pizza and baguettes belonged to F., my other roommate, but he told us to eat them while he is on vacation at his parents so that the stuff won´t get bad and rotten.
Told. Done. Stuffed ;-)

Friday I´ve been home and got my first vaccination for my voluntary service in Ghana. It was a combination of hepatitis A and B. The preparations for Ghana are becomming more concrete now. And the first fear appeared: I read on internet that the government wants to save some (more than 25% of the current budget!) money on the weltwärts-programme. I hope they won´t. Otherwise it might be that some volunteers, who already got an ok to go abroad, will be denied to do their service because of a lack of money.
I hope the best and try to trust the government...

Sunny coffee

I am just back from uni. After work in school and some fast lunch (pasta with the rest of my tomatosoup - great as a sauce too! - from yesterday) I went with my roommate S. to uni. But not for work, at least not me. She has to do some stuff in the library and I only followed for some coffee. The sun is shining, blue sky and then you have to drink some coffee in the sun and just enjoy life. Forget about the comming exams, leave the tiredness of waking up early behind you and just have a hyggelig (the danish experts know what I mean ;-) ) time. Life is wonderful.
